CHERRY'S MESSAGE

Imagine where thousands of Wisconsin’s at-risk youth would be today without Rawhide. Our children have suffered terribly from abuse, neglect and trauma.
For over 55 years we have been honored to share in the joy that results from each life that is enriched by our program. We are so grateful for the many passionate individuals who are responsible for giving thousands of youth the love of family and a path forward to a truly changed life.

Today, we have an opportunity to deliver even greater hope to our future generations. As we help launch Rawhide’s Capital Campaign, Building Hope, we ask that you please consider joining us in fulfilling Rawhide’s vital mission to transform the lives of our most vulnerable children. We hope you enjoy reading about the Building Hope initiatives in this brochure and please remember, every dollar makes an impact. We want you to know that you are always welcome to visit our beautiful Rawhide campus or give us a call to learn more.

Blessings,
Cherry Starr

IMAGINE...

Our youth are resilient. They are survivors. But they do not have a fighting chance if we cannot expand our capacity for those in crisis. And, right now, our need to serve these young men and women is greater than our capacity.

Beyond the brick and mortar of our organization, Rawhide is building a legacy that will be passed down for generations to come. Rawhide alumni leave here healthier and better prepared to return to their communities.

The Rawhide Building Hope campaign will make it possible for the construction and expansion of several Rawhide facilities to host these crucial services to more youth and families than ever before.

STARR YOUTH HOME

The Starr Home will increase safety, convenience and capacity in a family- centered, therapeutic environment to care for at-risk boys who suffer from severe trauma and abuse. The 10,000-square-foot youth home will portray the modern household with an open-concept, neutral tones and simple décor to create a cozy atmosphere, where youth will feel safe and right at home. There will be 12 bedrooms each with a private bathroom and can hold up to 16 youth at a time. The Starr Home will allow us to welcome more at-risk boys to our New London campus throughout the year than any of our other homes.

RESOURCE & TRAINING CENTER

Renovating our current Welcome Center will create a state-of-the-art resource and training space to impact, not only our staff and youth, but also our community. With this renovation, we can offer first-class facilities for meetings, trainings, seminars or social gatherings for youth and families in the community that need help and resources. Aftercare and alumni services will take place in this space for youth and their families that need additional assistance and resources following the completion of their residential program.

BART & CHERRY STARR MUSEUM

Our first-class Starr Museum will be a destination attraction that honors the legacy and tells the story of Bart and Cherry Starr’s life, values and connection to the Rawhide mission.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE? $6M Goal

Will you consider a special gift to expand Rawhide’s lasting change in our communities?

More than ever, Rawhide needs financial assistance to continue its mission. This support will ensure Wisconsin’s at-risk youth have access to quality education, mental health treatment and job training to break the generational trauma cycle and be successful members in society. We cannot accomplish our goals without generosity from those who believe in youth as much as we do.

THANK YOU for considering taking part in helping us reach our Building Hope Capital Campaign’s critical goal. We are grateful for your help laying the foundation we need to continue transforming lives for generations to come!

WAYS TO GIVE

Cash Donations

Your generous cash gifts will light the way for our at-risk youth to positively impact our world. There are several ways you can donate cash to support our capital campaign. Please consider supporting this campaign through a one-time gift, monthly giving or multiyear pledge.

IRA, Stocks, Bonds, & Mutual Funds

IRA Required minimum Distributions

Beginning of age 72 (70.5 if you reach 70.5 before January 1, 2020), all IRA owners are required to take annual minimum distribution, even if the income isn’t needed. The IRA Charitable Rollover provision permits donors age 72 (70.5 if you reach 70.5 before January 1, 2020) and older to make tax-free charitable gifts directly from their IRAs to charities, up to an annual ceiling of $100,000. Remember, the distribution must be made directly to Rawhide from your financial institution to avoid being taxed as income. No additional tax deduction is taken for an IRA Rollover gift to charity. Your benefit comes from lowering your income tax.

Stocks, Bonds, & Mutual Funds

A donor may transfer ownership of securities (stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares) to Rawhide as a gift. The fair market value at the time of transfer is considered a charitable contribution and is tax-deductible when itemizing tax deductions.

THANK YOU TO OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE

This committee has been incredible helping us bring hope and healing to our at-risk youth. Without their dedication to helping Rawhide expand its capacity and reach, we could not continue our legacy. Thank you to our co-chairs and committee members.
