Rawhide partners with Young Life, a Christian, nonprofit organization that introduces adolescents to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith. Youth can volunteer to partake in weekly Young Life Club gatherings or monthly Young Life community activities to ask questions about God and build authentic relationships with staff who meet them exactly where they’re at in life.
Weekly gatherings offer youth an opportunity to get to know the staff and other youth in the group while enjoying snacks and discussing life experiences and lessons. Young Life staff read a passage from scripture to give youth an understanding of Jesus and his love for them, and ends in personal prayers for each individual present in the gathering.
Leading the Young Life Program on our New London campus are Steve and BoLynda Masseth. Together they will oversee the development of our Young Life ministry, modeling Jesus’ work by inviting youth to develop relationships with adults who care about them and provide them a safe place to ask questions and learn about God. This ministry complements the hard work of our therapists, caseworkers, Starr Academy instructors, and other staff in providing a safe place for youth to grow and thrive.
Our hope is that our youth leave Rawhide with a better understanding of God and positive relationships they have built with Young Life leaders. We anticipate their continued involvement with Young Life beyond their stay at Rawhide and continue nurturing their relationship with Jesus in their own communities.
