Hi, I’m Corey, and I want to share my Rawhide story.

I’m 16 years old and originally from Milwaukee. I have struggled in school my whole life and didn’t expect to graduate. I came to Rawhide in October for a new start and, after just a few months, I caught up on my missing credits and may be able to graduate early!

I could not have gotten this far without the supportive staff at Rawhide, who convinced me I could do it. Ms. Michelle taught me to reframe my thinking and instead of saying “I can’t do something” to say “I can’t do it yet.” Mr. Nate, Ms. Karly and Mr. Will taught me to never give up on what I want to do because I can do anything I put my mind to.

Outside of my school work, I have enjoyed helping set up Christmas decorations for the Oshkosh Celebration of Lights and dropping off firewood donations to community members in need. I also help clean up the Rawhide campus and café 15.

When I complete my Rawhide program, I plan to go to college and follow in my mom and sister’s footsteps and become a nurse. I know now that I can make this happen, and I am so grateful to Rawhide for teaching me important lessons and giving me experiences I need before I return home.

None of this would have been possible without your support, so thank you for donating to help boys like me graduate and have a brighter future.

Sincerely,
Corey
