Rawhide’s Foster Care Program Recognized through Governor’s Foster Care Award

NEW LONDON, WIS., — May 22, 2018 — Rawhide, Inc., a leading residential care provider, is pleased to announce that Bob and Nan Pieper (Foster Parents for Rawhide) have been recognized by the state of Wisconsin as a recipient of the 2018 Governor’s Foster Care Awards. First Lady Tonette Walker and Department of Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Eloise Anderson honored the Piepers and numerous foster care advocates at a special ceremony in the Assembly Chamber of the State Capitol May 15.

“Bob and Nan Pieper are always willing to go the extra mile to help a child succeed and grow no matter the circumstance while staying in their home,” stated Tammy Curtis, Rawhide Treatment Foster Care Manager. “Their knowledge and understanding of children that have experienced trauma is demonstrated in the growth of the children placed in their care.”

The Rawhide Treatment Foster Care program is a Trauma Focused program that provides training, support, 24-hour access to case managers and understanding to foster parents. Rawhide believes that connection and teamwork are the key elements that continue to provide support and growth for the program’s success.

There is a statewide need for additional loving adult couples to step forward and care for foster children. Currently in Wisconsin there are about 8,000 children living in out-of-home care.
