Individual, Group & Family Counseling

There are a number of issues at-risk teens have to contend with today including ADD, RAD, understanding emotions, anger management, boundaries, criminal thinking, alcohol and other drug abuse. At Rawhide, each young man goes through a series of assessments to help us determine the best way to help him.

After we have an opportunity to meet with each young man, we’re able to determine areas of need and set specific, personalized treatment goals. As part of the treatment the student will attend individual and group counseling to address his issues.

Family counseling, which is strongly recommended, has proven to be an effective approach to help build and reconcile those important relationships.

Session Descriptions

  • Individual Counseling is provided by social workers and/or therapists at least once per week. Daily coaching is provided by living unit staff.
  • Family Counseling focuses on developing healthy communication and respect for each other. Educational and experiential approaches assist families with parenting, anger management, and conflict resolution. Rawhide also offers monthly family counseling and intensive counseling weekends.
  • Group Counseling is also facilitated by certified social workers/therapists on a twice-weekly basis. Programs include anger management, AODA, dating and sexuality, criminal thinking errors, boundaries, leadership and equine assisted therapy.

Our certified social workers and therapists have extensive experience working with struggling teens. Also available is our consulting psychologist who assists in performing assessments and therapy when needed.
