Ministry Retreat at Shalom House
We know that the demands of ministry are oftentimes endless and Shalom House exists as a place for God’s servants to experience His all-encompassing peace. If you’re a pastor or missionary, come away to Shalom House for rest and relaxation.
Our 3-acre wooded lot offers a peaceful setting. Soak in the hot tub or Jacuzzi, swim in the indoor pool, walk along the path in the woods, relax with a good book or listen to music. All these resources are provided for you to enjoy!
In the midst of the demands of His ministry, Jesus was intentional by spending time with His Father for renewal and refreshment. You’re welcome to take this opportunity to refresh your soul at Shalom House by engaging with the Father through focused times of prayer, of worship, and of meditating on God’s Word.
What to Expect at this Ministry Retreat
You may come alone, with your spouse, or bring your family to Shalom House! We host only one group at a time, allowing us to provide you with privacy as well as attention to your specific needs. Shalom House is also available for small group ministry retreats or one-day meetings.
You’ll be pampered by our host couple in a luxurious guest suite complete with a queen-size bed, Jacuzzi tub, private bathroom, fluffy bathrobes, TV with DVD/VCR, as well as an adjoining sun room with a coffee maker, small refrigerator, microwave, pull-out sofa bed, and various resources including books, games, magazines, music CDs, and DVDs. You’ll enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub, as well as the game room, large deck area, spacious living room, and fireplace. Additional bedrooms are available, one on the main floor and two on the lower level, as well as other bedding options. Meal service is provided a la carte, or you’re welcome to bring your own food and use our fully-equipped kitchen.
Shalom House Administrators
Vaughn and Maralee Groen, Administrators of the Shalom House, manage the operations. You might say they keep the home fires burning for guests and ensure guests are comfortable and nourished.
Previously, they’ve served in various capacities in Christian organizations and churches, primarily in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from where they relocated to come to Wisconsin and serve at Shalom House. Their desire is to serve those who come to Shalom House. They love to pamper guests and to make them feel comfortable. They want to provide an environment where guests can connect with each other, and most importantly with God. Their greatest joy is for guests to feel rested and renewed.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
