Important car donation tax deduction information!
For your car donation, the IRS allows you to claim a tax deduction of:a) The value of your vehicle up to $500. It is up to you, as the donor, to determine the fair market value.
b) The gross amount we sell your donated vehicle for if sells for more than $500. Our sales team works diligently to ensure you receive the maximum amount based on your vehicle’s age, condition and location to determine the best sales venue. After your vehicle is sold, you will receive a official tax deductible receipt for your records.
* Donors must itemize their taxes to be able to claim the deduction.
E-File TipsThe same car donation guidelines apply to those to choose to file their taxes electronically. After E-filing you will need to mail to the IRS Form 8453 along with your Rawhide tax deductible receipt (this is a substitute to Form 1098-c). You do not need to mail in a copy of your tax returns that were filed electronically.
For more information regarding the Form 1098-C, please visit the IRS website.
In order to ensure compliance with IRS requirements as they apply to your specific donation and circumstances, always consult a qualified tax professional.
