Vehicle Donation

Donating to Rawhide is Quick & Easy

Donating a car, truck or van to Rawhide is quick and easy and, it can help change a life!

Rawhide's experienced, knowledgeable Sales staff is committed to maximizing the funds generated from your vehicle donation in order to benefit the boys in our care and to maximize your tax benefits. According to the current tax law, donors are allowed to claim up to $500 or the amount Rawhide is able to sell the vehicle for.

The income generated by the sale of donated cars, trucks and vans allows us to provide quality education, counseling, and work experience training as well as food, clothing, and a loving family environment to at-risk young men.

After receiving your vehicle donation, we will evaluate it. Depending on the year, make, model and condition of your vehicle, we may complete a full vehicle inspection to determine the overall condition of the car donation and whether or not to invest in making any repairs.

We will then determine the best place to sell your vehicle donation. Rawhide sells at wholesale dealer auctions and on-line (depending on the age of your vehicle). We have been successful at selling many of our car donations at a price close to fair market (private party) value which may provide the highest tax benefit possible (see Fair Market Value Comparison link below).

*Please note: If the vehicle or truck you are considering donating is larger than a standard pick-up truck or cargo/passenger van, please call Rawhide customer service at 1-800-729-4433 prior to filling out the online screening form.

Consideration of Repairs

Rawhide does not make repairs to all vehicles. Cars, trucks and vans in need of repair may still provide a financial benefit to Rawhide. We inspect each item that is donated and decide whether or not to make repairs based on the return on investment. Generally, if the repairs cost more than the item is valued at, or if it will not increase the resale value of the car donation we will not make the repair. The decision to make a repair is at the sole discretion of Rawhide staff.
