A Need for Change

Teenage boys are becoming disengaged from their families, schools and communities at an alarming rate. The 2005 Wisconsin Youth Risk Behavior Survey reports that 22.2 percent of all male high school students in the state have felt sad or hopeless and 14.1 percent have seriously considered attempting suicide.

The report indicated that twice the number of young men are using high profile drugs than females. Young men are also significantly more likely to commit violent crimes and drop out of school. In fact, the research also indicates a 7-to-1 ratio of teenage boys to girls who carry weapons on a daily basis and get in the kind of trouble that lands them in a correctional facility. Another staggering statistic is that the average cost to society for rehabilitating an offender during their lifetime is nearly 1.7 million dollars.

Rawhide Boys Ranch seeks to have an impact on at-risk teenage boys to prevent them from becoming a statistic by providing them with help and hope for a better future.
