Student of the Month - September 2011 |
Ready for Anything | My name is Lyndon and I am 18 years old. I have been at Rawhide for 3 and a half years! My favorite things to do include hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor activities. I also love to participate in parades and drill competitions with the Royal Rangers.
I recently graduated from New London High School and my favorite subject was Communications Class with Mrs. Cochran-Hager. She taught me how to be a more effective communicator.
Before attending New London High School, I was enrolled at Starr Academy where I was able to increase my reading, writing, and math skills so that I could transition to a public school. I was also a member of the Starr Academy track team. I participated in the job training program, worked as an assistant in the school office and also in food preparation at Rawhide’s Frontier Café. I now have a job working with a concrete and asphalt company in Appleton.
The relationships with the staff at Rawhide have been important to me because I don’t have much communication with my family. The staff at Rawhide has been like family to me. The Houseparents that I first stayed with at Rawhide have retired. However, we still have contact and they’re like grandparents to me.
I hope to attend Fox Valley Technical College in January. I would like to enroll in the EMT Basic class and to eventually earn my associate degree in criminal justice.
