Student of the Month - May 2011 |
Determined to do Great Things | My name is Daniel and I am 17 years old. I’m from Outagamie County and have been at Rawhide for five months. My favorite things to do include: playing basketball, baseball, and football. I have enjoyed getting to know all the guys in my living unit, the Carriage House, as well as the houseparents and other staff.
My favorite class is social studies with Mr. Tony. He is an awesome man and teacher. We are always learning about new, fun, and interesting things.
I hope to return to Kimberly High School and obtain my high school diploma. After I complete my program at Rawhide, I am determined to do great things. One thing I would like to achieve is to earn a college degree. However, I have not decided what degree I would like to pursue. I would also like to obtain employment somewhere that I could look forward to working at every day.
A special person who has influenced me while at Rawhide is Mr. Nate. He is a Senior Resident Instructor at the Carriage House where I live. Nate is a great example for all the guys here to follow. He shows us affection every day. It’s obvious to everyone that he enjoys his job and how much he cares for each of us cadets. No matter what the circumstances are, he always encourages me (as do the other staff) to do well and he never loses his composure.
I am so thankful and honored to be here. It was a privilege to be placed at Rawhide. I will leave here full of memories and lessons that I will never forget.
~Daniel
