Student of the Month - January 2009 |
My Walk | My name is Spencer and I am 15 years old. I am from Winnebago County and have been at Rawhide for four months. My favorite things to do include snowboarding, soccer, and hanging out with friends and family.
My classes are going well at Starr Academy and the teachers are awesome. I really enjoy Mr. Schroeder’s class because he makes it easy to learn something new and interesting. I also like Mrs. Simpson’s English class because she is a really cool teacher. I hope to go into the Navy, but if that doesn’t work, I would like to go to UW-Milwaukee for psychology. My goals are to be successful in the Navy or in the psychology field and make good choices.
One of my major keys to success has been Jesus Christ. The best thing that happened to me was beginning my walk with Christ. I accepted God into my life in September 2008 at a youth event in New London. The pastor that spoke showed me the way to the Lord; which is interesting, because I had heard speakers like him before, but none of them spoke to me like he did. I could relate to his struggles.
I now pray every night, and it has been the best thing that ever happened to me. I have also continued my walk by participating in Rawhide’s Building Spiritual Muscle program with my mentor, Mike Fulk (life skills instructor at Starr Academy).
