Student of the Month - February 2008 |
Journey Through Rawhide | My name is Duane and I am 17 years old. I am from Polk County and have been at Rawhide for three months. Playing football and basketball are my favorite things to do. I also enjoy playing pool and cribbage with the Resident Instructors and hanging out with my friends.
Job training is enjoyable because I like helping out in the community. About Face Project Coordinator Major O’Brien and Field Trainer Lieutenant Melton are fun to work with and they teach me a lot about developing a good work ethic. Upon completion of high school my hope is to attend college. For my future, I am looking forward to working in my community.
A special person who helped me get through my program is Lisa Behnke (Rawhide Social Worker). She got me through my hardest times at Rawhide. I would like to thank her for helping me make it this far. Others who help me are my Resident Instructors. They are there when I need someone to talk to. When I have made mistakes, they have helped me get back on my feet and finish my program so I can get back home.
