Student of the Month - December 2007

Thanks For Your Support

My name is Jordan and I am 16 years old. I’m from Portage County and have been at Rawhide six months. My favorite things to do include working on my dad’s old pickup truck and playing football and basketball. I also enjoy Coach Andy Schroeder’s (academic instructor) social studies class and Scott Wilson’s (academic instructor) math class. I hope to attend a course at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton and get a commercial driver’s license so I can drive truck. One of my goals in life is to be a positive influence on my younger brothers and sisters. I have four brothers, one sister, a step-brother, and a step-sister.

I would like to thank Angel Williams (senior resident instructor) for all his support. When I first came to Rawhide I didn’t plan on staying; but as he spent time taking me around the ranch and talking to me about his past, I chose not to leave. It really stopped me in my tracks––everything that he told me proved you can change and break your old habits. Throughout the past six months, I’ve been trying to meet my program goals and am doing pretty well. I’m starting to see my family more and spend time in the community.

I have learned that you can’t do whatever you feel like doing; it is better to think about it and make wise choices. With Rawhide’s help, I now can look forward to a bright future.
