John J. and Ethel D. Keller Education Center

Rawhide's state-of-the-art Starr Academy provides a complete educational experience to the young men at Rawhide.

Opened in 1998, the Keller Education Center was funded by Jack and Ethel Keller of J. J. Keller and Associates in Neenah, Wisconsin. This portion of the school contains a library, computer labs, and eight educational classrooms including a science lab and art room. Title I math and reading classes are available for students who are deficient in these areas.

Chester L. Krause Fieldhouse

In addition to the academic areas of the school, students enjoy the Chester L. Krause fieldhouse which opened in 1998. Funded by Chet Krause, founder of Krause Publications in Iola, Wisconsin, the fieldhouse contains two full-sized basketball courts, locker rooms, the Bret Starr Memorial Fitness Center, a small concession kitchen and a large stage area with a complete sound system.

Competitive athletic opportunities are available for students on the Starr Academy basketball and track teams which compete interscholastically with area high schools.

Gabrielse Woodworking Shop

New to Starr Academy in 2007, the Gabrielse Woodworking Shop allows young men to learn more about woodworking as a trade and as a hobby. Due to the generous donation of top-notch woodworking equipment and a supply of wood from George Gabrielse, the students have been able to build many beautiful objects including a bookcase, benches, handheld mirrors, a harvest table and CD racks.

Fine Arts Auditorium and Student Activity Center

The Fine Arts Auditorium and Student Activity Center were opened in 2004 and funded by major donations from Jack and Ethel Keller, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and many others.

The auditorium seats 282 individuals and is used for chapel services, guest speakers, performances, and is available to the general public.

The activity center contains pool tables, ping pong, air hockey, a model train set, foosball, and many games and puzzles. This area is used as a reward for students who meet certain standards and have earned their privileges.
