Rawhide's Frontier Cafe was built in 1972. The second floor was a boys home while the lower level housed administrative offices, a recreation area and food service.
In 2000, the Cafe was completely renovated. Today the first floor features a beautiful, rustic dining room that provides food service to the Rawhide staff and guests.
The kitchen also serves as an area of the Work Experience Program for students. They can obtain a job in food preparation and/or clean up. The upper level is now home to the Human Resources department as well as some apartments and training facilities.
One wall of the cafe features a mural of four horses painted by Russian artist Maya Valeyeva. The mural was painted in January of 2000 in memory of four horses that were lost in a barn fire on Christmas Eve of 1999. |
