The centerpiece of life-changing opportunities at Rawhide is the boys homes. The family living model is what sets Rawhide apart from other residential care centers. Each boys home is staffed with live-in Houseparents and Resident Instructors who offer spiritual and moral guidance and serve as the parental figures that many of the boys have not had in their lives.
Houseparent couples combine the expertise gained from successful careers with the personal experience of effective parenting. The couple provides a mother and father figure in a traditional home setting, modeling a loving parent relationship and providing training in social/interpersonal skills, housekeeping, and personal care. Resident instructors are single, recent college graduates (male and female) who mentor, disciple, and counsel the boys in everyday situations. The housekeeper provides hands-on training in cooking, cleaning, and laundry. In addition, Professional Youth Care Workers rotate in and out of the homes as needed to ensure proper staffing levels at all times.
Rooms are single or double occupancy depending on individual circumstances. Each student has his own bed and dresser and each room has its own bathroom. Homes are furnished with a large dining room table for family meals, a fireplace, patio, family room, wash room, and large kitchen with plenty of good home-cooked food. Young men help prepare meals and clean up afterwards and are responsible for chores around the house.
There are currently six homes on the ranch. To learn more about each individual home, visit the links below. |
