Originally purchased for a mere $285 from Rawhide in January of 2008, this stunning ’56 Tomahawk has become the envy of everyone on the water. Current owner Greg Anderson worked tirelessly to return this Wisconsin-made gem to its native waters. With its rare 1963 Homelite 55 horsepower, 4-cycle short-shaft motor powering the way, and its dazzling new paint job, onlookers can only dare to rival this vintage beauty.
After stripping it down and assessing the repairs and modifications needed, Greg jumped right into gear. He began replacing the outdated materials with new Plexiglas in the original aluminum frame. Greg also replaced the steering cables and hardware, the speedometer cluster, motor seals, fasteners, trailer wench, wheels and bearings, seals, and the trailer’s wiring. He then stripped and repainted the trailer, motor, and boat in classic 50’s tradition. In addition to preserving the unique, original steering wheel, Greg fitted his new toy with brand new custom seats and fasteners which gave this boat just what it needed to shine in the open water.
After adding a few final touches, Greg’s labor paid off. By investing almost 400 hours of work, and nearly $3,200, he can now relax and enjoy his beautiful 1956 Tomahawk on the open waters of central Wisconsin. He can now add it to his collection of four other vintage boats he has purchased from Rawhide over the years.
