Jacob Receives a New Smile! |
Many of the students that come to Rawhide have never received proper dental care. One young man in particular, Jacob, was in acute need of repair on a number of his front teeth. The need was so noticeable that he would only smile in a way that did not show his teeth.
Many times at Rawhide we have been amazed at the compassion one person will show toward Rawhide youth. This happened in Jacob’s life. Jacob came to Rawhide and was performing community service work for the Morgan Horse Show in Oshkosh in July 2006. During the show he met one of the judges, a dentist, Dr. Ronald Possell. After observing Jacob and his warm caring smile, Dr. Possell approached Rawhide staff with this offer: “I would like to give Jacob a smile that he can be proud of.” He went on to share that he performed dental reconstructive work in his practice in Menasha and that he would like to offer his services to Jacob at no charge.
After a series of appointments at Dr. Possell’s office, Jacob's beautiful dental work is complete. So much emphasis is placed on appearance in our society, that without this work Jacob would have suffered a great disadvantage. We know that Jacob will greatly benefit from this wonderful gift. As you can see from the photos, a handsome young man will be smiling proudly for the rest of his life. |
