 | May 1, 2008 | | Rawhide Boys Ranch, a residential alternative for court-ordered youth, announces the opening of a new prevention-based outpatient counseling program in Green Bay. This special announcement is scheduled for Thursday, May 1, at 8:50 a.m. at the Riverside Ballroom, immediately following the conclusion of the National Day of Prayer Breakfast. Featured speaker Bart Starr and John Gillespie (Rawhide’s Founders), will be available for comment, along with Rawhide boys, Board members and staff. “Rawhide Youth and Family Counseling Services in Green Bay will provide youth and their families access to 43 years of knowledge in producing successful outcomes in teen and family issues,” stated John Solberg, Rawhide Executive Director. “For many years youth have come to Rawhide to receive services, now we can take this expertise and extend it to individual communities. We are excited that Green Bay will be the first city in which we offer these services,” continued Solberg.
The vision of Rawhide is to inspire and equip at-risk youth and their families, throughout the nation, to be profoundly changed, restored and responsible. Rawhide is committed to having exceptional residential services. Outpatient counseling is viewed as an extension of a Rawhide continuum of care that already includes long and short term residential care, group home care and licensed treatment foster care for court-referred and at-risk boys. In addition to the Green Bay office, located at 1039 West Mason St., outpatient clients will have access to Rawhide’s Equine Assisted Therapy (REAP) in an indoor riding arena as well as a variety of other therapeutic settings on the Rawhide campus. “Our hope is that any youth with behavioral issues and their families will be able to access the rich history and knowledge of Rawhide, producing sustained, positive change,” added Solberg.
The announcement will also introduce Rawhide’s new outpatient therapist, Wes Johnson. He brings 13 years of experience in youth and family counseling. Most recently he was a professional counselor with a community mental health clinic in Green Bay.
Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch emphasizes a faith-based residential environment as an alternative to juvenile corrections for court-referred young men. In addition, Rawhide is pleased to provide services to youth and their families through community-based programs, like outpatient counseling. With the first site established in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Rawhide is poised to become the leader in providing faith-based services to at-risk families throughout the State of Wisconsin.
