Rawhide Boys Receive Suitcases

June 29, 2007

LeaAnn Schneider has a passion for community service work. Recently, she and five of her friends from the Seymour area known as the Dining Room Divas delivered 20 suitcases and 7 duffle bags to Rawhide Boys Ranch. Each of the suitcases included a fleece blanket that the group had handmade for the boys. Chris Pruitt, the Youth Homes Manager at Rawhide stated, “Many of our residents arrive at Rawhide with their personal belongings in a paper bag. The gift of the suitcases will help these young men transition home with a greater sense of pride and self esteem as they participate in home visits on weekends and, upon their return to the community once they have completed the program.”

The ladies personally presented the donation to the boys residing in the ABC home at Rawhide. Afterward LeaAnn expressed, “We all rode home with such an awesome feeling of accomplishment. Meeting with the boys was such a rewarding experience. Now as we move forward we have actual names and faces to put with our suitcases and blankets. And, if our small gesture can in turn spur the same feeling in even one of those young men, then you can see the circle widen and only then can this world become a better place.”

Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch emphasizes a faith-based traditional family environment and serves at-risk and court-referred young men. Their mission is to inspire and equip at-risk teenage boys to become responsible young men through family-centered care, treatment, and education. Rawhide is largely supported by donations of cars, boats, campers, and financial gifts. Learn more about Rawhide by calling (920) 982-6100 or visiting the website at www.rawhide.org.
