Representative Peterson Makes Strong Connection With Rawhide Youth

April 7, 2007

State Representative Kevin Peterson with Rawhide YouthState Representative Kevin Peterson (R-Waupaca) recently visited and enjoyed dinner at the WATDA Carriage Home at Rawhide Boys Ranch. Young men residing in this home participate in the About Face Community Service Corps, a military-style program at Rawhide Boys Ranch. The visit allowed Peterson, who served in the military with the U.S. Navy from 1983 – 1994, to share about his experiences serving in state government and aboard a nuclear-powered submarine. While on his naval tours he was submerged aboard the submarine for 120 straight days, the same time period that young men are enrolled as cadets in the About Face Program.

Representative Peterson is a native of Waupaca. He is a co-owner of a family-run electronics corporation, and continues to serve his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch emphasizes a faith-based traditional family environment and currently serves at-risk and court-referred young men. Their mission is to inspire and equip at-risk teenage boys to become responsible young men through family-centered care, treatment, and education. Rawhide is largely supported by donations of cars, boats, campers, and financial gifts. Learn more about Rawhide by calling (920) 982-6100 or visiting the website at www.rawhide.org.
