Community Foundation Announces $5,000 Grant to Rawhide

October 9, 2006

The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin has awarded a grant of $5,000 to Rawhide Boys Ranch. The grant was made after a request was submitted for Rawhide’s About Face Community Service Project. The support for this project was provided through the Caroline S. Mark Legacy Fund of the Community Foundation.

Over the past five years Rawhide Boys Ranch has worked with 30 young men from Marathon County. These youth come from deprived environments where they lack positive structure and are suffering the consequences of poor choices they have made. The About Face Program is a military-style community service corps that provides counseling, discipline, and academic and work skills training in a loving supportive family environment. “The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin recognized that every youth who experiences sustained positive behavior change is a benefit to the Wausau area,” stated Steve Dorosz, Rawhide’s Director of Development. “We are very grateful for their generosity,” continued Dorosz.

The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization created by and for the people of the North Central Wisconsin area with the goal of making the community a better place to live, now and for future generations. The Caroline S. Mark Legacy Fund is an unrestricted fund within the foundation. To learn more about the foundation and its programs visit: www.cfoncw.org.
