JanSport Corporation Presents Boundary Waters Trip to Rawhide Boys |
 | June 5, 2006 | | JanSport Corporation of Appleton recently presented a financial gift allowing four boys from Rawhide Boys Ranch to experience high adventure in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota. JanSport is a leading manufacturer and retailer of outdoor equipment and clothing wear. Founded in 1967 by Skip Yowell and Murray Pletz, JanSport is celebrating their 39th year of operation.
The trip is being organized by Big City Mountaineers, a guide service located in Golden, Colorado. Their mission is to provide urban youth in need of positive adult mentors a challenging and safe wilderness experience led by qualified adult volunteer guides. The guide service has also led Rawhide boys on expeditions in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado for the past few years.
“We are delighted to provide Rawhide boys with the chance to experience an adventure of a lifetime,” stated Michael Cisler, President of JanSport. “We are continually looking for avenues to provide youth with opportunities to learn life experiences by using outdoor adventures as a tool.”
The 8-day trip is scheduled for July 14-21 and will extend across hundreds of miles of wilderness lakes in northern Minnesota. In addition to JanSport’s gift, Lawrence University of Appleton also provided a financial contribution.
Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch emphasizes a faith-based traditional family environment and serves at-risk and court-referred young men. Their mission is to inspire and equip at-risk teenage boys to become responsible young men through family-centered care, treatment, and education. Rawhide is largely supported by donations of cars, boats, campers, and financial gifts. Learn more about Rawhide by calling (920) 982-6100 or visiting the website at www.rawhide.org. |
