Foster Parents

Share Your Home and Help Change a Life!

Rawhide is currently looking for married couples in Wisconsin who have a desire to become foster parents to our youth in the context of a Christian home. Rawhide is a licensed Child-Placing Agency that licenses and supervises treatment foster care homes. Young men who have completed one of our residential programs are placed in foster care when extended care is necessary or beneficial, or on occasion, direct placements from the state or county may occur.

Treatment foster homes provide a less restrictive environment at about half the cost of residential care. Foster care placement allows young men to transition back into the community, but still have some level of supervision, and prepares them for their return home or for independant living. Students are encouraged to obtain part-time employment in the community and attend a community school. Some students may have the option of attending Starr Academy, Rawhide's on-campus school.

As a Rawhide Foster Parent, you will be fully trained by our staff and have the following support and benefits available to you:
  • Licensing and training to meet state requirements
  • Matching your home structure with the needs and personality of the youth whenever possible
  • Access to Rawhide professional staff and supervision, 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week
  • Continued clinical support from Rawhide social workers who are familiar with the student’s background and history
  • Access to the treatment team including placing social worker, Rawhide social worker, transition coordinator, and biological parents or guardian
  • Resource library and training resources (located on Rawhide property)
  • Access to Rawhide's professional staff including medical, psychiatric and psychological services
  • Monthly stipend to offset room and board expenses
  • Scheduled respite (time off) for rest and renewal
