Volunteering at Rawhide

Rawhide welcomes volunteers who wish to support our mission of helping at-risk youth and families change their lives. You can volunteer in a number of ways including serving fish dinners at our seasonal fish fries, tutoring Rawhide students, providing transportation to students, or working at a number of special events. Check out the various volunteer opportunities below. Thank you for thinking of us!

Treatment Foster Care Parent

Parents of faith can serve as role models to troubled youth in need of a temporary, consistent, and loving environment until their home situation is healthy for them again or until they are ready to live independently. We are seeking caring, Wisconsin families who love youth and want to help change a life. Foster parents can make a tremendous, positive impact on young lives. And the need is great. Please consider opening your hearts and homes as a foster parent. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Rawhide Fish Fry

If you are looking for a volunteering opportunity, Rawhide’s Friday Fish Fries are a great way to work alongside Rawhide students and staff. Fish fries are open to the public with proceeds providing tuition assistance for our Starr Academy. Positions are generally available in parking, busing tables, serving platters, clean-up, and more. If you or your group would be interested in volunteering for an upcoming fish fry, please email us  for more details!

Special Events

Rawhide periodically hosts special events such trade shows, dinners, motorcycle rides, golf outings, alumni dinners or fundraisers. These events require extra people to man parking, snack booths and other activities. If you, or your group would like to volunteer for these types of events, please email us!

Co-op Work Opportunities

After leaving Rawhide, students need to continue working in their communities. Volunteer opportunities help students build a reference base, gain valuable job experience and help them feel good about giving back to the community. The young men are hard workers, and volunteering has helped many of them earn jobs later in life.

If your organization has an opportunity available that might be a good fit for a Rawhide youth, please email us.

Tutoring

Oftentimes Rawhide students need extra help to complete assignments and stay focused on their studies. Tutoring is an excellent way to assist a young man academically while affording the opportunity to build a meaningful and lasting relationship. Many of our young men are deficient in basic academic skills. While at Rawhide, many of these boys begin to pursue an education as they learn the benefits of education and see that they can be successful in school. If you would like to help tutor, please email us.

Alumni Transition Program

Rawhide is in need of mentors, employers, churches, and other social organizations that would be willing to help Rawhide alumni transition back into their communities. Getting a job is often a challenging and rewarding process for Rawhide alumni. This program gives them an opportunity to build some experience to provide for themselves and their families. If you feel that this would be a good fit for your skills and talent, please email us.

Transportation

Many of the guys come from underprivileged families who lack transportation, a convenience most people take for granted. Without transportation, they are unable to go to school, church or work. Your assistance to get them from point A to point B would be a tremendous help to provide them an opportunity to continue building moral values, further their education and provide them employment opportunities they would not have been able to have without your help. If you would like to volunteer to help our students with transportation needs, please email us.

Other Gifts of Time or Talent

We are always open to considering other ways you believe would help the youth of Rawhide turn their lives around. Your creative gifts, experience, talents or abilities might be exactly what an at-risk teenage boy needs in his life. Email us.
