- A stable place to call home?
- Patience and understanding?
- An environment for a teen to learn and grow?
What is Treatment Foster Care?
Treatment foster care is for youth that need a higher form of care than that of traditional foster care. It is also designed for our guys who are leaving our residential care and do not have a safe place to call home. Treatment foster care is considered a “step-down” from residential treatment before the youth can return home. This type of foster care is provided by an everyday family that loves children and wants to help them turn their lives around.
Process of Becoming a Foster Parent
As a foster parent in our treatment foster care program, you will help him transition back into the community. You will provide a nurturing, safe environment for the youth where you will encourage him academically and spiritually.
Before the youth is placed in your home, you will have an opportunity to meet him and see if he will be a good fit for your home. You have the final decision on which youth you let into your home.
The length of stay depends on the needs of the youth. Sometimes this means as little as six months and in other cases, he might be with you until he turns 18.
Your family will not be alone. We offer a built in team of people who are willing and able to coach you if a need arises in a crisis situation. This support is offered around the clock. In addition, you will receive 40 hours of training before a teen is placed in your home. From then on, there is an additional 24 hours of training provided each year.
